Southern Baptists Take A Conservative Turn

The Southern Baptist Convention has elected a new president, Johnny Hunt, a conservative pastor from Georgia. This is important to us in this state, since the Southern Baptists are the dominant religious group in a state that is second only to Utah in its closeness to a theocracy. Hunt’s election is seen as turning the convention in a more conservative direction, if possible, although Hunt promises to take it slow. First step: Eliminate all uses of the words “woman” or “women” in official documents, replacing them with the more theologically correct “breeding stock.”
